Wow, The month of May just came and left…

In celebration of National Water Safety Awareness Month this past May, we started offering swimming lessons and water safety education to public school students.

Swimming lessons

Koblerville Elementary School, William S. Reyes Elementary School, Hopwood Middle School, Saipan Southern High School, and Marianas High School kicked off May by offering their first set of American Red Cross Learn to Swim lessons to interested students. Swim lesson participants enjoyed the sessions and are interested in achieving the higher levels of the Learn to Swim program. We will continue to do our best to offer this opportunity to as many interested students as we can.

Water Safety Presentations

Our program also provided over 50 American Red Cross Water Safety Presentations, to more than 500 elementary students this past month. Students in all classes were so excited to talk about swimming and share near drowning experiences with the class. We shared water safety tips to help them be aware and avoid potential hazards. We also discussed the proper ways of reacting to an aquatic emergency. Thank you to OES, WSR, KES, GES, and GTC for giving us the opportunity to share this life saving knowledge with your students. Don’t worry SVES and KagES, we’ll get to you during the summer or at the beginning of next school year.

American Red Cross Water Safety presentations are free and available to both public and private schools. If you are a teacher and would like for us to conduct a water safety presentation in your class, please feel free to send us an email at jeremiah@swimcnmi.com and we will be happy to schedule one for you.

Be safe everyone and Swim for Life!
